Just after dawn every Saturday morning, the farmers and other vendors at Del Ray Farmers’ Market begin setting up their booths in Pat Miller Square. The market officially opens at 8 am, though shoppers eager to beat the heat often start to trickle in even a little earlier. When you arrive, you’ll find tables piled high with freshly-harvested lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cabbage, radishes, leeks, and more. You’re welcome to browse the tables at this open-air market, but if you have a pretty good idea what’s on your shopping list, market organizers strongly encourage you to head online and pre-order so that your groceries are pre-packaged and waiting for you to pick up (regulars say this makes it easy to pop in and out while you’re running errands). Beyond fresh produce, you’ll find vendors selling a variety of specialty goods, like hand-made sorbet, pralines, goat cheese, pickles, and other tasty treats.
