December 4th, 2019
A beloved holiday tradition returns Saturday, Dec. 7 to our city: the Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights! Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2019, this annual event invites holiday revelers from near and far to enjoy holiday cheer while marveling at the impressive displays that decorate each participating vessel.
It all starts at 2 p.m. with special dockside festivities such as a pop-up beer garden from Port City Brewing Company, holiday crafts including bookmark-making and letters to Santa, and delicious food, all set to the tune of holiday music. At 2:30 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive by fireboat at the Alexandria City Marina and will be available for photo ops. Of course, the main draw of the event is the parade itself, which kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and will dazzle spectators as the boats depart from the Alexandria City Marina for a one-mile-long glide down Old Town Alexandria’s waterfront.
The Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights is free to enjoy. Food and drinks are pay-as-you-go.
